VeggieCrush v1.9 is out now, and it is a proper introduction. Two of our favourite parts of the app, the Daily Check-in and the Sunday Week in Review, have been quietly growing behind the scenes for a while. They are polished, they are lovely, and it is well past time we told you about them. Alongside that, a run of fixes so signing in by email behaves itself.

Meet your Daily Check-in
A big garden should still fit in a quiet morning. Open VeggieCrush and the first thing you see is today, sorted.
Instead of scrolling a wall of cards, one per plant, your jobs arrive neatly grouped by what they actually are. “Watering, 22 tasks” is one line and one decision, not twenty-two. Tap Done for the lot once you have been round with the hose, or tap Later when the day has other plans for you. A big, generous garden suddenly reads like a handful of choices you can make with a cuppa in hand.
Growth Checks are the one thing we deliberately keep personal. When a plant looks ready to move into its next stage, that is a judgement call only you can make, standing there having a proper look at it. So those still come plant by plant. Everything else gets the group treatment.
Planting and transplanting groups respect your plant allowance and say so plainly, so you always know where you stand before you tap.
Then, on Sunday, your Week in Review
Once a week your garden gets a proper wrap-up. What went in, what came off, what quietly hit a milestone, and what is worth having in mind for the days ahead. It is the gardening equivalent of standing at the back door on a Sunday afternoon with a cup of tea, having a good look at how the patch is going.
We have given it a solid polish for this release:
- A plant with a missing photo now shows a friendly icon rather than an empty circle.
- Genuine forward progress is told apart from a tidy-up correction, so only real milestones get celebrated and nothing gets a party for being edited.
- Harvest card titles sit neatly on their line instead of wrapping awkwardly.
- If two of the same plant turn up in “New in the garden”, they are numbered so you can tell them apart.
- “Looking ahead” now leads with an actual harvest heading your way, rather than a bare count of jobs.
Signing in, sorted
The way into your garden should never be the fiddly bit, so we spent time on email sign-in this release.
The “Open in app” link now reliably carries you into VeggieCrush instead of leaving you stranded. Sign-in links open properly on Android. Sign-in emails now send reliably, so accounts that used to hit an “email send failed” message get their link like everyone else. And the sign-in landing page now wears proper VeggieCrush branding, with a leftover old label finally shown the door.

Head to the App Store or Google Play, update to v1.9, then open the app to today’s short list. We will see you on Sunday for the wrap-up.
